These include the Miami Hard Rock and Seminole Classic Casino (both just north in Hollywood) and the Class II Miccosukee Resort And Gaming Center on the outskirts of Miami.
However, you’re by no means limited to brick-and-mortar casinos near Miami, FL. In many ways – especially for state residents without nearby Florida casinos within reasonable driving distance – online FL casinos are a much better option. Visitors to South Florida will no doubt try their hands at the retail casinos around Miami. But for everyone else, the best venues are online at the sites recommended in our 2024 guide to nearby casinos.

If you’re looking for the best casinos in the United States available in Miami, you’ll find some great ones. We’ve reviewed the top brick-and-mortar Miami casinos below. But as good as these venues are, they’re limited. For one thing, none of them offers online gambling. For another, if you want to play live roulette or live craps in Miami – or anywhere else in FL – you can’t do that, either!
Even the two Florida Hard Rock resorts (one casino near Miami, the other casino in Tampa) aren’t fully “Vegas-style.” FL gambling law does not permit any casino – Class III or otherwise – to host real roulette tables or real casino craps. They can only offer electronic versions of these games.*

*The revised 2021 Florida-Seminole compact would have allowed real FL roulette and craps, but the agreement was rejected when challenged in court. The Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood is easily the biggest casino in Miami and the best casino in Miami – but it’s not actually even in the city! Still, since the Hard Rock is the nearest casino to Miami, we say it’s close enough to count.
It’s also the closest casino to Miami International Airport. And being the nearest casino to the Miami airport is a major benefit. It makes the venue convenient for every visitor to the area. Even if you’re only in town for some fun in the sun, you’ll probably want to hit up the best casino near South Beach once the sun goes down.
Sure, there are other casinos near Miami Airport and other casinos near Miami Beach. But they’re all a lot smaller, mostly further away, and – especially in the case of the Miccosukee Miami Resort (see below) – they don’t have nearly as big a selection of real casino games.
The Hollywood Hard Rock is viewed by most as the flagship Seminole casino property. The other venue vying for the title of best casino in FL – the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa – has a bigger gaming floor, but it’s less famous and less luxurious. It’s also too far away to be considered a casino “near” Miami, anyway. (But if you’re on the other side of the state, it’s the only Florida casino near Tampa worth checking out.)
The most notable aspect of the Hard Rock in Hollywood isn’t its sheer size (140,000 square feet of gaming space), it’s 3100 slots, its 200 table games, or its 45-table poker room. Nor is it the property’s 1275 rooms and suites, nearly 20 restaurants and bars, lagoon-style pool, AAA Four Diamond rating, or even its multi-billion-dollar valuation.
Instead, the Miami casino hotel is primarily known for its skyline-dominating 450-foot-tall pair of guitar-shaped hotel towers. For this, the best Miami casino destination is commonly referred to simply as “The Guitar Hotel.”

Miccosukee Resort & Gaming – Limited Class II Gambling In Miami

Technically, there are no proper Miami casino resorts. And while Miccosukee Resort & Gaming is located within the Miami city limits, it’s just as far away as the much bigger – and much better – Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood.
Now, don’t get us wrong; there’s a lot to do at the Miccosukee Casino in Miami. But the problem is that it’s not really a “casino” per se.
Instead, it’s the sole Class II Indian casino in Florida, which means its gaming selection is limited to things like electronic gaming machines (EGMs), video lottery terminals (VLTs), and games more typically aligned with charitable gambling (i.e. pull tabs, raffles, and so on).
Now, the venue does host one of the best bingo halls in Florida, which makes it by far the best bingo hall in Miami. But that’s the extent of the gaming on hand.
For entertainment outside of Miami casino gambling, the Miccosukee gaming center offers things like Everglades airboat tours, live music and cabaret shows, sporting events (typically indoor fare like boxing/MMA), several restaurants, a martini bar, and more.
As for the “Resort” part of the property, visitors have access to a nine-floor hotel with 300+ rooms and suites, along with a large pool and fitness area.
2023 Update: The Miccosukee Casino is gaining at least one “real” casino attraction: in-person poker! The Miccosukee Casino Poker Room promises to be one of the best poker rooms in Miami. The poker room at the Miccosukee Miami casino is scheduled to open in Spring 2023, so it’ll probably be live by the time you read this.
Seminole Classic Casino – Smallest Real Casino Near Miami

If you want to skip the resort aspect and just settle in for a night of in-person gambling near Miami, FL, the Seminole Classic Casino is a solid option. It’s situated in Hollywood, less than one mile from the much more grandiose – and much busier – Hard Rock venue.
With 73,500 square feet of gaming space, it’s not a small casino by industry standards. It’s just that the Classic pales in comparison to its much bigger brother right down the street. But that happens to be key if you want to keep things low-key.
Aside from its size, the main difference is that this smaller venue doesn’t have its own hotel accommodations. (The same goes for another of the smaller Seminole casinos around Miami, Florida, which is covered in the next section.)
Despite that, the Seminole Classic Casino does feature several restaurants and bars, the “Stage Bar” live entertainment venue, and – naturally – a real casino with real Class III casino games. These include over 1000 FL slot machines, a variety of live-dealer table games, and even a smoke-free gambling area so you can breathe easy – even with thousands of dollars on the line!
The Classic is also a legit Miami poker casino. The venue’s modest but welcoming Florida cardroom features regular games of Texas Hold ‘Em, Double Draw Poker, Three Card Poker, and Criss Cross Poker.
Traditionalists such as ourselves tend to stick with Holdem, but you can play any hand you want.
Other Nearby Miami Casino Locations
The above Miami, FL, casinos are always going to be our first choices when we want to gamble back down south. (Albeit we really only ever hit up the Miccosukee Gaming venue when we want to play bingo or golf in between trips to the Everglades National Park.) However, if you live further outside of Miami, there are a couple of additional casinos that might be closer to you.
To be clear, these aren’t casinos near Miami, Florida, in the usual sense, but they’re not too far away, either. In other words, while we don’t consider them to be Miami FL casinos quite like the others, they are legitimate casinos within driving distance – depending, of course, on where you live.
Seminole Casino Coconut Creek – Coconut Creek, FL

Situated about an hour away, the Seminole Coconut Creek just barely qualifies among this list of nearby Miami casinos. And like the closer Seminole Classic, the Coconut Creek casino is only a casino – there’s no hotel or resort amenities available.
Still, for a night out, it’s a great option. The venue has a main gaming floor with more than 2100 FL slots and 75 live-dealer tables, along with plenty of electronic roulette and electronic craps.
The Coco Poker Room also boasts 30+ poker tables, making it the biggest of the “Miami cardrooms” aside from the one at its massive South Florida Hard Rock counterpart. Naturally, there are also several restaurants, bars, and lounges, and the live entertainment is consistently first-rate with regular big-name shows.

Honestly, the Seminole Immokalee casino – the nearest casino to Naples and Fort Myers – probably shouldn’t be on this list of brick-and-mortar casinos around Miami, Florida. It’s two hours away by car! But if you live in between Immokalee and SoFlo, it’s six to one and half a dozen to the other.
As for the venue itself, the Immokalee casino is actually bigger than the Seminole Classic Casino. Plus, as the property’s name implies, it’s a place where you can actually spend a whole weekend instead of just a single evening.
With a 99-room hotel, seven bars and restaurants, multiple entertainment venues, 1400 slot machines, and upwards of 15 different live-dealer games across more than 40 live tables, it’s a standout option when you want to stand out – and we mean stand far out – from the Miami gambling crowd.
